I've played Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms since 2018. I'm a big fan and thoroughly enjoy the game.

 

Having watched almost every episode of Weekly Patronage, I try to ask a meaningful and/or relevant question every week. A couple weeks back I had the idea of asking Lauren to pick between 2 hypothetically possible patrons she would like to see added to Idle Champions. From that idea spawned an idea to pit potential patrons head-to-head in a bracket style competition. Each week would see a new matchup in a single-elimination tournament, eventually resulting in one "winner" from the field of potentials.

But why limit this to just Lauren responding? Idle Champions has a huge player base. Why not include them in this hypothetical exercise?

I scoured official 5e content sources to find beings and organizations native to or well known in Faerun that seemed likely to have the resources and/or clout to sponsor our intrepid adventurers. Potential candidates were organized into groups that seemed logical to me and added to a 32 participant bracket. I seeded the bracket to place all of a single group in the same quadrant, resulting in the following group matchups:

• Upper left: Wizards vs Dragons

• Lower left: Organizations

• Upper right: Demons vs Devils

• Lower right: Archfey vs Dreadlords
